Part I: The Suit

September 23, 2005 “Andy” selects material and custom options for his suit, tours the cutting room, and is measured by Alonso the tailor at Walter Beauchamp Tailors.

September 29, 2005 As the artist's costume (i.e. the suit) is underway, letters are sent to The Power Plant Gallery's director Gregory Burke and Curator Reid Shier introducing them briefly to the project.

October 5, 2005 Andy” tries on his suit at the first fitting.

October 14, 2005 “Andy's” final suit fitting and the selection of shoes.

 

Part II: The Pursuit

October 18, 2005 “Andy” makes his public debut in his new custom-made suit at The Power Plant Gallery's Meet the New Director evening. He meets Gregory Burke for the first time.

October 19, 2005 Press kits are sent to all Power Plant staff and Toronto media. An article about Hot Pursuit runs in the Winnipeg Free Press. “Andy” hopes to tour The Power Plant, but is turned away because of the video camera and photographer with him. “Andy” goes outside, and poses for pictures. He later joins the tour and then heads off to take part in HUBBUB! The Power Plant's riveting prime-time rumble at the Rivoli.

November 2, 2005 “Andy” attends Vancouver artist's Geoffrey Farmer's talk about semiotically dense transformations of gallery space at The Power Plant. “Andy” meets curator Reid Shier for the first time.

November 3, 2005 “Andy” attends the opening night preview of the Toronto International Art Fair at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, where he is introduced around by special guest artist and tour guide Kelly Mark (who was recently billed by BorderCrossings: A Magazine of the Arts as “Canada's hardest-working artist”). “Andy” continues to mingle with curators, buyers/dealers, gallery owners and artists. “Andy” continues the performance at the Toronto Alternative Art Fair International's Back to the Rack gala at the Gladstone Hotel.

November 4, 2005 “Andy” returns to the Toronto International Art Fair, and walks around the trade show meeting people. He then heads off to an opening at YYZ Artists Outlet.

November 10, 2005 “Andy” attends a lecture/screening of Vito Acconci's films at the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art.

The week of November 14, 2005 The Power Plant Gallery is sent flowers, chocolates, coffee/tea and assorted goodies. “Andy” hand delivers a gift basket, with a personalized note, on November 18.

Tuesday, November 22, 2005 "Andy” discovers that Power Plant artist Simon Starling's lecture (originally scheduled for Thursday, November 24) has been postponed. “Andy” requests a meeting with curator Reid Shier to present the Hot Pursuit proposal for consideration.

Thursday, November 24, 2005 “Andy” finds out that Reid Shier will be leaving The Power Plant in the Spring, and is no longer responsible for programming. “Andy” offers to take Reid out for lunch to get his take on the project.
