graffiti was exhibited as part of the show Open Secrets at Gallery 1.1.1. in Winnipeg, Manitoba from November 29 to December 17, 1999. The colourful work consists of 96 photographs of graffiti. Total dimensions are approx. 9 feet high X 20 feet wide. The work blurs the relationship between public and private symbolism in its presentation and appropriation of anonymous street graffiti into the domain of the gallery setting. The contradiction between the often unwanted street graffiti coupled with this setting creates a tension that makes the form, color and beauty explosive.
